We have named the various jewelry parts after the names of the jewelry manufacturers. As a rule, the women from the Acholi tribe, which is the tribe that predominantly populates northern Uganda, have a Christian name and a name in the tribe's language. This name is often chosen based on the circumstances in which the child was born.

 

Here are a few examples:

  • Limaro - the beloved
  • Aloyo - the victorious
  • Akello - the child born after twins
  • Acen - the second born twin
  • Apiyo - the firstborn twin
  • Laneyro - someone who likes to laugh
  • Lagum - the blessed
  • Lakija - who is full of grace

Our current project

Classrooms and Accommodation

At our village school in Got Apwoyo, we need more classrooms and accommodation for teachers. Currently, we only have the capacity to teach children from kindergarten to third grade. Many of the children then have to stop attending school because their parents don't have the money to send them to boarding school.
To start with, we need €10,000 for one classroom and two basic teacher accommodations.

Dear friends! A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to Pastor Bismark's lightning-damaged house. As you can see in the photo, the new house is almost finished; all that's missing is the roof. Of course, a huge thank you from him and his entire family as well.
